Prof. Kubiak studied Biology at Warsaw University, Poland, and graduated with an MS in 1983. He then joined the research group of Prof. Andrzej K. Tarkowski at the Institute of Zoology, Department of Biology, Warsaw University. He received his PhD degree in 1988 at the same institution. After three years of postdoctoral fellowship supervised by Dr Bernard Maro at the Institute Jacques Monod, Paris, France, he obtained a position at the CNRS in France. He is now in the CNRS, France, and WIM-PIB in Poland. He has published more than 140 research articles in SCI(E) journals.

Ken H Young - clinical research

Prof. Young is a clinically oriented diagnostic physician with clinical expertise in the pathologic diagnosis of hematologic cancers, including tumors of the bone marrow, lymphoid tissue, spleen, and pre-malignant hematologic conditions. Another area of interest is blood cancer classification with molecular and genetic profiling. In his research program, the team focuses on molecular mechanisms of tumor progression, cell-of-origin, biomarkers, and novel therapeutic strategies in lymphoma, myeloma, and leukemia. In addition to patient care and translational research, medical education and scientific communication are also part of interest. He provides persistent support for the physician-scientist program and Blood Cancer Pathology program in the department and cancer center. Many residents, fellows, graduates, and postdocs have worked and been trained in his program. They perform comprehensive clinical and research functions that include bone marrow, lymphoma pathology, clinical flow cytometry, cytogenetics, molecular diagnostics, and outside services.
